Fellow knitters and Desert Rose Designs blog followers - we’re having a KAL for my Plissados Scarf!

Update May 20, 2011 – we’ve been a pretty quiet KAL. I hope everyone has enjoyed this project and I look forward to seeing your photos. Although I am considering this KAL over now, your comments will continue to be welcome here. Until our next KAL project ~ Cheers! Jean

The pattern is in “Simple Hip Knit Scarves” which can be purchased from Annie’s Attic – either as a softcover book or e-book. Or you can purchase the book directly from me – Desert Rose Designs – on my web page.  I  have plenty of copies of “Simple Hip Knit Scarves” for you!

Or….enter a drawing to win a copy of “Simple Hip Knit Scarves” (one copy – one winner) by signing up for the KAL! Sign up begins today with knitting to commence April 1st (no fooling – really). The book winner will be drawn on March 28th so I can get the book shipped for arrival by April 1st. (If the winner is international the book might not arrive by April 1st.)

This page will be our KAL home. Sign up by entering a comment, and continue to post comments as your scarf progresses. I’ll post any photos you send in here as well – and do send photos!

Plissados Scarfw/pin

This is my favorite way to wear Plissados. What will be yours?

The materials list is easy – 1 skein (440 yds) of Malabrigo Sock, or comparable fingering weight yarn; US 7 (4.5mm) 40-inch circular needle (to accommodate the number of sts). And the pattern of course. That’s it.

Sign up today & show off your Plissados!

  1. Beautiful scarf, as always!

  2. I love the versatility of this scarf/shawl. Off to get the pattern.

  3. Oh my gosh, so feminine and darling. I want this scarf!!

    • And so you shall have it – or many :) . Are you ready for the KAL? I am getting excited to see the colors everyone chooses for their “Plissados”. (and thanks to all for hanging in there while DH took me to Moab for our anniversary)

  4. Love it. Saw the ad on Ravelry. Think I’ll knit this with the KAL using some yarn I purchased at loopy ewe last year.

  7. We’re just at the end of our first week – how are everyone’s projects coming along? Any questions, comments or photos to post?
Let’s do a color poll – what color are you using for your Plissados project? The first KALer to reply can chose one pattern of their choice from my Desert Rose Designs line.
    Cheers! Jean

  9. I’m just checking in to say I haven’t cast on yet for this project. My hubby and I are liveaboard sailors and we just got underway today to head back North after spending the last 7 weeks at a marina in Marathon FL, in the Keys. Now that we’re underway I expect to have a lot more personal knitting time and hope to cast on this week. I’ll be using some green Wollmeise that I have on board. Looking forward to seeing the other projects.

    • Hello Marjorie, Sounds like you live a very interesting life! How long will it take to sail to your destination? Do you stop at ports/marinas or see other boats/people along the way? Is it the Sock Wollmeise you’re using? Uhm, that is lovely yarn and I bet the green is gorgeous. Are you able to post photos from aboard ship? Since you are the first KALer to post your yarn color – you get to chose one pattern for free from my Desert Rose Designs line – here’s my current patterns – http://www.drdesigns.net/patterns.html. Just let me know which one you like and I will email a pdf file to you. Cheers! Jean

      • Well, I’m the first, but it hardly counts since I haven’t cast on yet … and you were so generous and gracious to send me the book. I’d say award this to the next person to post who actually has progress.
Tonight we’re anchored at Matecumbe Bight, just north of the Channel 5 bridge. I’m posting from my Droid phone. I have the ability to post photos to Ravelry from the phone, and to Facebook, but haven’t had any luck posting to blogger from phone. We’ll be in West Palm by the weekend and then I’ll have internet again. Connectivity is sporadic in this lifestyle. When I have internet again I’ll post links to my Facebook page – Marjorie Van Zile Graham – and to our blog, so you can follow if you’d like. There is a sailors group on Ravelry and there are a handful of us liveaboards that post there too. As for the project, I bought 2 skeins of wollmeise last year at loopy ewe before I left St Louis. It’s fingerings weight.

  10. Hum, well – ok we can do that. It is very sweet of you to suggest giving your prize to the next person posting that has cast on & made some progress on their “Plissados Scarf”.
Fellow KALers – Majories has given you another chance to win a free pattern – be the first to post what color you are knitting Plissados in and show us some progress!
    Cheers – Jean

  11. Hi! I’m joining the KAL late! I’m a teacher on Spring break and thought I could get a good chunk of knitting in. I’m knitting with Dream in Color Smooshy. The color is Cloud Jungle. I’ll post a pic once I’ve started knitting, hopefully sometime today or tommorow. I love the pattern!

    • Welcome Kathy! We’re glad to have you join us and are looking forward to photos of your “Plissados” project. I did take a peek at Dream in Color’s web site to see the Cloud Jungle colorway. I like the mix of colors that will go with lots of different looks. And, you get to chose one pattern for free from my Desert Rose Designs line! Take a look here – http://www.drdesigns.net/patterns.html, and let me know which one you would like. I’ll send the pdf to you by email. Cheers! Jean
